I'm so happy with how Little Man's nursery turned out! So many have been asking for pictures and I kept telling myself... "when I finish the nursery, I'll post them"... But life happens and 5 months later, I'm still adding little details here and there. Knowing me, it'll never be completely done. But it's enough "done" that when I'm sitting in the recliner at 2am I still grin like a loon because this space makes me so happy!
Everywhere I look, there are contributions from people who love my son as much as I do.
The dresser was the same one Hubby's diapers were changed on. Him and I refinished it together.
The banner is the nautical spelling of my son's name and my "southern sister" made it for him as a decoration for his surprise shower.
My then 3 year old daughter helped paint the sign that goes above his bed.
The buoy lamp was once in my baby brother's room.
The crib where he sleeps is from a dear friend.
The boat above the changing table is the one thing Hubs and I purchased years ago in hopes of one day having a son and a nautical nursery.
The baskets are all from Nana because she know her daughter *ahem* is neurotic about organization.
And so it goes... on and on... all the little details of love that I am constantly reminded of whether I'm putting away his little clothes, laying him down or feeding him in the wee hours of the morning.
I know -- to some -- putting so much effort into a nursery doesn't make much sense. He'll never remember it. It won't grow with him as he gets older. Yada yada yada...
But this is my love language. I don't mind he'll probably never see these pictures. I don't mind that he'll someday want a big boy bed and a big boy room. Someday he'll want to hang posters of bands and cars on his walls, and his bed spread probably won't color coordinate with them. But for now, I can pour my love into this. I can snuggle with the best of them. I can play, and clap and clothe, and feed. Of course, I will find joy in all the ways motherhood allows. This is just another one of those ways for me. I hope you enjoy seeing the pictures of Little Man's little world, especially if you know us. And especially if you contributed.
And if you're expecting a little one and find inspiration here, I'm so glad! I'll be posting How-Tos on the various DIY projects soon! Let me know if you have any questions/comments!
